Sweet home Alabama Chanin

I have a new designer crush. Natalie Chanin. This ones a little out of my normal realm of avant-garde crazy brits and califonians, seeing as her whole opperation is based in the forgotton state of Alabama. The main idea her of line is based around is the traditional quilt base. Almost all of the clothing presented for her spring 2010 line had backed cut-outs with great detail put on the patterns created by the layering of fabrics and threads. The fact that all the clothing (and jewlery and soft home furnishings) are all hand sewn by quilt ladies, puts a smile on my face. I can just imaginge, my grandma (if she was at all crafty) fixing chocolat chaud for all her little grandchildren (my sister and I) then bundeling up and working on the intricate applique. I can almost see it, she'd probebly be bitching the entire time. wow. Anyway, I'm really intrieged by the work.

What is this? Itching powder?

My fingers are so itchy from the cold lately, that I can barely hold a needle steady when I'm sewing. Which is bad. In case you did'nt know that not being able to sew is like prison for me. As of late, I've ben working on a few t-shirts to sell so I have just alittle money............. I'm still working hard on AP, but for right now art projects are taking the back burner. Somehow I still need to pay for Christmas. Bleh.
Well good night.

Oh its you, Comme on in.....

You know how sometimes in the morning all you really want is a tall stack of pancakes? When I awoke this morning all I wanted was to put on one the cozy Comme des Garcons coats from fall 2009. All I wanted was to wrap myself up in that warm plaid jacket, and mabye drink chocolat chaud by the fire, is that too much to ask? But did my closet magiclly attain the beutiful garment, that by wearing would make my day, mabye even my year? No, it did not, becuase my dear friends, my closet is a hoe. My closet opened it's doors but did not yeild the coat, instead offering such wild suggestions such as plaid shirts, warm wool cardigans, or a great french miliatary rain coat(that paired with a plaid blanket, looks earily simalar to the opening Comme number).

Well my dear friends, what other choice did I have but to stay home and mope about, yearning for my coat?

I am not one to take sides......

But Edward does'nt deserve Bella. I'm just saying, why be with a cold dead, not even mildly attractive vampire, when you could snuggle up in jacobs arms? Hrm? Did'nt think about the long term did you Stephenie Meyer?

If one is allergic to something, it is best not to put that something in one's mouth, especially if that something is a cat

My English teacher has been puting an emphasis on the author's life outside of his or her respected works. Focusing mainly on authors usally looked to in college works (e.g. Hemingway, Austin, and Fitzgerald). As much as I enjoy a juicy, hard to read classic I've been researching my favourite contemporary authors. Looking into the lives of writters like Lemmony Snicket (the pen-name for Daniel Handler), and Francesca Lia Block (author of many random and joy filled adventuring books, many of which belong to the Weetzie Bat series, come to think of it....I dont know how many books are about the Bat's lives.......hrm..). Something about learning the funny quirks that lead to their publications and living through being known for their characters, is kind of exhalting.

While focusing on Lemmony Snicket, I began to relove (is that a word? well, now it is) Bret Hilquest's illustrations. Seeking out more, I stumbled upon the author Blue Balliet and her delightful childrens art mysteries. For some reason My reading is now centered around Y/A mysteries, it must be something to do with my inner sleuth. I'm Reading the Gilda Joyse mystery novels (Gilda has a style I greatly admire, fashion wise, not the authors writing style). And, I don't know...... I like these books about middle school, and even elementary school. It must finnally be time for me to read Y/A fiction. When I was in elementary and middle school, I was the kid reading Oscar Wilde or other crazy complicated books most in college do not understand.
What I've been trying to say in these last few paragraphs is that reading is something ingrained in all of us, something you connot shake. And no mater how many times I've been told that reading does'nt have a place in modern society, I have to ask "REALLY?!? Did you REALLY just say that??".

"And then he ran into my knife, he ran into my knife ten times he did"

I'm a firm believer that if one watches enough or reads enough about a city, they can form an educated opinion of the city. It's just a theory, but when I went to New York I knew my way around the subway, and the shopping (5th avenue and meatpacking) districts.....so I think it a reliable way of research. So I've been looking for media on/about/or set in Chicago. So far on my movie list I have Ferris Bueller, Chicago (of course), Adventures in Babysitting, and Never been kissed. Book wise, my list is even shorter......... can someone help me?

It Snowed.

Missouri weather has got to be the one thing in life you cannot count on. At the begining of last week the temperature was somewhere in the mid-seventies. The litle man in the sky, who pushes the buttons and pulls the levers to release precipitation must be schizophrenic. I dont like this sudden change in the weather. But who knows, next week K.C. might enter a heat wave.........

On the left we have an example of Ross's normal attire, and on the right, Ross dressed for cold weather. Not much difference is there?
Today some of my friends decided that ice skating would be a good activity with all this chill in the air. Yeah, that was a great idea. I have a feeling that in the morning, I'll wake up with a bruise the size of Texas all up my leg from falling down multiple times today. Whatever........ Most people were grumbling and growling about having to wear extra clothes, when in my situation I wore whats normal with a scarf and gloves. I like wearing knit hats, and jackets over sweaters, I guess I'm just more for winter. I just don't like winter sneaking up on me.

Is this the face of a person who likes having snow thrust upon his day? I think not.
